I’m a glass and ceramic designer and artist working and living in Tampere, Finland. I have a curious mind and an innate desire to learn new things. Working with ceramics and glass is perfect for me, as one is never ready with them – there are always new ways of making, new forms, and new glazes and surface techniques to try.
Exploring and interpreting the world through my hands.
What I do
I work mainly with ceramics, making small batches of functional ware either by casting or by hand-building, as well as one-off decorative and sculptural works. During the past two years I have exhibited my art in group and collaborative exhibitions in Finland, and worked on commissioned functional ware and jewellery projects with clients. I’ve been also collaborating with artisan glassblowers with my vaseware designs.
I’m inclined towards intuitive, slow, and introspective ways of working, embracing accidents and happenstance. Recently, I’ve been interested in testing various material and colour combinations, and playing with the idea of links and bonds, both figuratively and in construction. In my most recent works I have combined various fiber materials with ceramics. Often, one can see visual cues of nature or landscape in my works.
